Storybook TTRPG System
A downloadable game
This is a download that contains documentation and a character sheet template for my Homebrew TTRPG (Table Top Role Playing Game) system, primarily aimed at those who are more familiar with video game RPGs, as well as those who are more of writers and creatives. It is a much more storytelling and character building focused system than a combative one, but allows for quite a bit of modding to work with whatever your campaign is about.
FAQ:
Q: How do I open character sheets?
A: It's a PSD, so it requires an art program like Clip Studio, Sai, or Photoshop to open because of it's use of layer folders. PhotoPea is also an online option that allows for the printing and modification of character sheets. Be sure to save any modified versions as a copy!
Q: Why is it called the Storybook System?
A: The mechanics are primarily inspired by the first two Paper Mario titles, as that is one of the more beginner friendly video game RPGs I've played, I was able to grasp a good amount of the N64 title when I was only 6 years old! It was a system I developed after being overwhelmed by a 350+ page DnD manual and wanted something a little more simple to DM for but still exciting. Rest assured the documentation here is only about 20 pages!
Q: What's with all the weird trait names?
"Imagination" and "Insipid" as the two contrasting trait systems was a leftover from the campaigns I developed the system for, where magic being tied to one's imagination and creativity played a major role in a lot of the world building. Some of the individual names of traits like Courage, Hope, and Intelligence being correlated with Red, Yellow, and Blue may stick out if you know about old school cult classics on Sega systems. Heck you can probably swap out Justice and Empathy for Growth and Purity, I won't mind.
